Setting the standard for cold-formed roll forming excellence since 1957
Scottsdale was founded in Napier, New Zealand in 1995 as Scottsdale Building Systems, Ltd. to develop & market light gauge steel wall & roof panel technology primarily for residential construction. The name has since changed to Scottsdale Construction Systems, Ltd.
Knudson Manufacturing was founded in Denver, CO in 1957 catering to a variety of metal forming industries and products, including metal stud and track framing, metal buildings, gutters, and formed metal panels. Knudson Mfg., Inc was founded by Gary Knudson and his father Aurther. Gary is widely credited with inventing what we now know as a gutter machine, which marked the advent of on-site roll-forming for seamless rain gutter and seamless metal roof panels. The next six decades would see countless innovations in both on-site and in-plant roll-forming machines, as well as several highly successful metal building systems and leaf-free gutter systems. Knudson’s advances in the light-gauge steel framing space eventually established it as the world’s leading brand in constructional metal cold-forming.
Scottsdale launched its products in earnest in 1997 comprising roll forming machines and design & manufacturing software.
Scottsdale formed strategic relationships with two major US corporations. In 2003 NuconSteel (Part of Nucor) bought the rights to Scottsdale’s panelised technology for the North American market and Mexico.
In 2005, Scottsdale Construction Systems and Truswall (part of Illinois Tool Works) and NuconSteel entered into a joint venture and developed our truss fabrication system. Scottsdale sells the truss technology in all world markets.
In 2016, Scottsdale Construction Systems took back the rights to the North America and Mexico from Nucor and Illinois Tool Works and now sells and supports these markets alongside the rest of the world markets that it previously operated in.
Scottsdale Construction Systems acquired Knudson Manufacturing in 2023, and the merged company, currently headquartered in Brisbane, Australia and Denver, CO, continues to operate under the joint name Scottsdale Construction Systems.
Louisville, KY based investment and financial services firm, Venture First, and digital transformation group, TYP64, have in 2023 acquired the majority stake in Scottsdale Construction Systems.
